Choosing the Right Clothing Styles   Make Old Clothes Look New
Closet organization starts with some basic clothing as well as basic lines in your garments
Begin with three colors within your color palette.
Use subdued weaves and no prints.

These following are only suggestions which can be altered to suit your personality. These are ideas to help you begin a wardrobe of suits and mix and match outfits for your closet.

 Organizing Your Closet
1.
Go through your closet and get rid of things you know you won't wear.
2.
Answer the following questions honestly:
Are you an impulsive shopper?
Are there mistakes hanging in your closet? Why are they mistakes?
Do you feel guilty spending money on clothes? If so why?
Is your image consistent day in and day out?
Is quantity and change more important to you than consistency and quality?
What are your favorites and why?
3.
Go through closet item by item.
4.
Get rid of anything not worn in over a year.
5.
Check all "keepers" for repairs and cleaning; put aside.
6.
Go through the rest of the garments and separate by color. Put the good color group back into the closet and the bad colors in a pile if you can let go of them.
7.
As you fill out your inventory sheet, examine the good color garments to see what is needed to complete your wardrobe so that you can put together the look you want to present.
8.
Organize all the best colors according to item.
9.
Hang like garments together: pants with pants, blouses with blouses, skirts with skirts, etc.
10.
Hang scarves on pant hangers.
11.
Hang belts on hooks.
12.
Shoes are best stored in clear boxes on a shelf.
13.
Put away poor colors that must be held for the time being to one end of the closet.
14.
Jewelry, necklaces, and bracelets can be placed on clear plastic or wood mug racks on the wall.
15.
Fill out the shopping guide for colors and items needed to complete your wardrobe for the current or upcoming season.
16.
Working women should select 5 outfits for the week on Sunday; hang together with jewelry in a bag. (Make sure items have no spots or tears, etc.)
 Closet Cleanout Tips
When I get into a decluttering mood, my favorite mantra is "To the curb!" If
I haven't used it in the past year, I either donate it, sell it, or pitch it.
The same holds true for your closets and wardrobe.
If you have a closet full of clothes (or in my case 2 closets)! But just
can't find the time to sort through every piece, or when you do, you can't
bring yourself to get rid of it (Because after all, you may need it someday!),
here's an easy way to figure out what you wear and what you don't.
Turn all of your hangers so the hooks are on the bar BACKWARDS. Then, as you wear your clothes, when you return them to the closet, place the hanger back the correct way. After 3 months, 6 months, or even a year-whatever hangers are still backward.... TO THE CURB!!! If you rotate your clothes seasonally as I do, when you put your fall/winter wardrobe into your main closet, turn the hangers at that time. Then in March/April when you return your spring/summer clothes to your closet, you only keep the items of winter
clothing whose hangers are facing the CORRECT way on the bar. If they are
still backward, then you went through an entire winter NOT WEARING that
item!! To the curb!!
If they are in good condition consider bringing them to a consignment shop so you can recoup some of your investment. I do that and it makes it easier for me to part with it knowing I'll get some of my money back. If money isn't an issue, donate your business clothes in particular to your local women's
shelter where they can help someone get a good start in the working world.
Repeat after me, "To the curb!" Now, go turn your hangers around.
