Accessories are what finishes our look. They should harmonize with the lines and personality of the clothing worn.
Shoes
Should be in style, comfortable and in your color palette.
Shoes should be the same color value as your hemline or darker. The exception is in casual wear. A lighter shoe will make your body appear shorter. If in doubt, wear a neutral color.
Hosiery
Should be same color base as garment. Avoid warm hosiery colors with cool clothing colors. Shoes and hosiery in proper colors create an illusion of height and slimness, particularly in the basic or neutral colors.
Handbags
Should be same color value as shoes or lighter. Bag should not be any wider than your hips. Shoulder bag should never fall at the widest part of your hip or near your bust if amply endowed. We don't want to call attention to the wrong areas.
Belts
Colors worn should be compatible with bag and shoes. The safest width is 1-1/2 inches. Women with large hips should wear at least a 1 inch width belt with narrow buckle for focal point which will create an illusion of a smaller waist.
Scarves
Choose scarves within your color palette. There are several books available on scarf use.
Jewelry
The size of the jewelry worn should be scaled to bone structure of the face and body. A large woman should wear large jewelry, dainty jewelry will look lost, such as earrings and pins. Any piece of jewelry should be a perfect partner to several garments in your closet. Choose metals and plastics in your color palette.
Glasses
Some rules for choosing glasses for your face are: round frame for square face; square frames for round face and almond shaped frame for pear shaped face.
Frames should follow the brow line or just below and should be no wider than the widest part of your face. You should also be able to slip your pinky in between the bottom of the frame and below your eye.
Stay within your color palette. Add more makeup. For less obvious frames, wear untinted lenses.
